Update: Heritage at the Heart of Graylingwell project

The Chichester Community Development Trust has been awarded a first round pass of £145,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund for the development of a second round application for the Heritage at the Herat of Graylingwell project.

An ambitious restoration and community engagement project Heritage at the Heart of Graylingwell will tell the story of the Graylingwell asylum in the Hospital’s chapel. The project will ensure the future of this beautiful and important Grade II listed building, engaging with the community and sharing the history of the asylum. The funding secured from the Heritage Lottery Fund will be used to develop detailed proposals for a second round application by producing documents to support the delivery of the capital works and activities.

Sonia Rasbery +Co supported the Chichester Community Development Trust with the preparation of supporting documents and assisted with the writing of the bid for the first round application. We are delighted with this fantastic news.

Hastings Museum and Art Gallery Celebrating 125 years, 1892 – 2017

Hastings Museum and Art Gallery Celebrating 125 years, 1892 – 2017

Coinciding with the 125th Anniversary, Hastings Museum and Art Gallery have been awarded further funding from Arts Council England’s Museum Resilience Fund to deliver Finding Our Place: Delivering the vision.

Delivering the vision builds on the work undertaken for the previous Arts Council England grant funded project, Finding Our Place: A new vision for Hastings Museum. For this project the museum created a dynamic and forward-looking vision. To achieve the vision a five-point action plan with realistic timescales and goals was developed with the team. This new funding supports the museum to deliver the goals and transform the museum for the future.

By providing funding the Arts Council is supporting the museum to put the mid-term aims of this plan into action. To do this the project is creating a business plan focussed on diversifying income and building resilience, setting up a collections review framework and associated training to established an effective process of review, and appointing a marketing intern to review current marketing offer and develop new opportunities. We are delighted to be working with the museum again on the management and delivery of the project.

You can join with the celebrations by visiting the exhibitions at the museum from May – September, and on the 16th August attending a family focussed fun day taking you back in time to explore our rich and diverse collections. Visit the museum’s website for more details about the events and exhibitions.

Learning On My Doorstep is back in action!

Learning On My Doorstep is back in action!

Based on the success of Learning On My Doorstep, Museums Enriching the Curriculum, Surrey Heritage and Surrey Museums Partnership secured further funding from Arts Council England for a further phase – Learning On My Doorstep, Building Local Cultural Connections

Sonia and Fran are excited to be working once again on the management and delivery of this phase of Learning On My Doorstep. The 18-month project is:

  • Enabling Surrey museums and other cultural partners from across Surrey to build relationships with school alliances and target ‘cold spots’ of cultural engagement.
  • Creating a programme of activities between project partners and the education sector to challenge equality and diversity in the cultural workforce.
  • Developing affordable and locally relevant CPD for Surrey Teachers and Initial Teacher Trainees.
  • Scoping the potential for Learning On My Doorstep as a business model for the wider cultural sector.

To support museums and schools with the building of relationships the Learning On My Doorstep team have recently delivered a successful Senior Leadership Network & Planning day. For museums and schools it provides the perfect opportunity for Senior Leaders to explore superb local cultural learning experiences and opportunities across the curriculum in depth, and review these against their school planning for the coming year.

“What an inspirational day! I am so excited about all these opportunities for our children. I had no idea and can’t wait to share with staff. Thank you for a day very well spent.”
