Oral Historian and Heritage Consultant
I provide advice, training and mentoring to support organisations to develop initiatives that encourage people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to participate in cultural activities. From the initial planning and grant application to the audience development, project delivery and evaluation stage, I work with staff and volunteers to fine tune their vision and create a deliverable project. In collaboration with curators, archivists, artists, students and academics, I have developed, delivered and evaluated projects that used oral history, reminiscence in dementia care, intergenerational and creative arts to produce exhibitions, publications, art installations and educational resources.
I am a museum professional with 20 years’ experience in the sector. I currently work with small and medium sized arts and heritage organisations to enable them to follow best practice in tasks ranging from the care and interpretation of collections and public programming to project and volunteer management. I work with people from all backgrounds providing support, mentoring and training to ensure they can develop the skills required to create positive change.
